This series of plein air oil paintings is created each year in July at the same spot on a bend nicknamed Bovine Beach in Latgawa Creek in Vesper Meadow. The series documents the restoration work and climate from year to year. 2019 was a wet year, before restoration began. 2020 saw some willow plantings and native yarrow was blooming. 2021 was extremely dry drought year in the west and southern Oregon experienced early wild fire smoke. 2022 had a bit more moisture. Earlier in 2023 post assisted log structures were installed in the creek which caused significant slowing and raising of the water level in Latgawa Creek, along with above average rain and snow. Also visible are the recently planted baby willow trees. What will the future bring?
