I love the night. Dark skies, the magical wonder of the night sky. Letting your eyes adjust. Feeling the slightly frightening peace of the vastness of the universe. Night is a treasure that we hide from with lights everywhere. Imagine if we turned our lights down at night and all could rest peacefully.
This particular scene is an amalgam of a group of trees from Vesper Meadow with a comet from 2025, and a line of three planets, also seen in 2025. I combined them, the sliver of moon, some real and made up stars and towards the end of creating the piece I added a wolf. The wolf is a potent real and symbolic creature. Powerful and wild, misunderstood, yet actually dangerous. Awesome and familiar. Just like the night.
This original oil painting measures 48” x 48” and is created on stretched linen using archival methods and materials.
