This spot along the Pacific Crest Trail is spectacular. The meadow is full of a huge variety of wildflowers and you can see Mt. Ashland (pictured here) as well as Pilot Rock and points all around. This spot is part of the Cascade Siskiyou National Monument, set aside because of its unique biodiversity. This location has influences from many types of landscapes, where the Cascade and Siskiyou mountain ranges connect. I have painted in this spot a number of times over the years, and go each spring with a group of plein air painters.
