Gorgeous Custom Frames

Dear Collectors,

I love a simple, beautifully crafted frame.

For many years of painting professionally, I struggled to find frames that were well crafted from beautiful materials that didn’t seem too fussy or cost a fortune. About 10 years ago I met Jens Sehm in Ashland, Oregon. He is an incredibly skilled woodworker with an orderly workshop on the south end of town, full of neat stacks of wood, gathered from various places included trees milled right here in Southern Oregon. Originally from Germany, Jens now creates custom kitchens, furniture and bedroom sets for clients up and down the west coast. I asked him to test out a frame and the result was clean, simple and beautiful. The diligent craftsmanship and local touch fits my aesthetic perfectly. So now, in-between amazing projects for his other clients, Jens makes frames for my paintings!

When it’s time to frame a new batch of work, Jen and I choose the right wood for each piece. Jens then makes each frame to size, using gorgeous dove tailed joints (see close up photo below). The frames are finished by Jens or brought to Nick Sinderson who has done professional furniture finishing for 40+ years. I SO LOVE the quality craftsmanship in his work. Like my paintings, these frames are built to last for generations!

Happy Collecting and Decorating!
